House GOP Intros Latest Bill To Repeal Affordable Care Act

House Republicans have introduced legislation aimed at erasing President Obama’s signature healthcare law following the Supreme Court’s decision to uphold the law.

Late Thursday, House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.) introduced the Repeal of Obamacare Act that argues the law must be repealed as a first step in solving the nation’s healthcare problems.

The meat of the GOP bill points to some of the expectations the Affordable Care Act failed to achieve as promised by Obama.  One provision finds that “tens of millions of Americans are at risk of losing their healthcare coverage,” even though Obama promised people they could keep their coverage if they liked it.

“The law and the more than 13,000 pages of  related regulations issued before July 11, 2012, are  causing great uncertainty, slowing economic growth,  and limiting hiring opportunities for the approximately 13 million Americans searching for work,” the GOP law reads. “Imposing higher costs on businesses will lead to lower wages, fewer workers, or both.”

Cantor announced last week that the House would take up the bill on Wednesday, July 11. The vote will solely be symbolic of House Republican opposition to the bill as it’s expected to die in the Democratic-controlled Senate.
