Poll: McCaskill Leads Akin By 10 Points

McCaskill comes in with 48 percent of the vote while Akin comes in with 38 percent.

Incumbent Democrat Claire McCaskill holds a 10 point lead over embattled Republican Congressman Todd Akin in Missouri’s Senate race, according to a new poll from Rasmussen Reports conducted on Wednesday.

McCaskill comes in with 48 percent of the vote while Akin comes in with 38 percent.

Akin has been surrounded by controversy since suggesting in a television interview that victims of “legitimate” rape rarely become pregnant since the female body shuts down.

Akin later apologized for the remark and conceded that he was wrong, but the Republican party has nearly universally called for him to drop his bed.

The poll was conducted among 500 of the state’s voters.
