Gingrich Tells Obama To Dump Chu

Looking to create some momentum heading into Super Tuesday, Gingrich accused Obama and Chu of purposely allowing gas prices to skyrocket.

GOP candidate Newt Gingrich told supporters on Thursday that President Obama would be wise to fire his Energy Secretary, Stephen Chu.

Looking to create some momentum heading into Super Tuesday, Gingrich accused Obama and Chu of purposely allowing gas prices to skyrocket.

“President Obama must announce today in his Nashua address that he is firing Secretary Chu and replacing him with a pro-American-energy appointment,” Gingrich said during a campaign stop in Georgia. ”If he doesn’t, then the American people will know the president is still committed to his radical ideology, which wants to artificially raise the cost of energy.”

Chu riled Republican lawmakers on Capitol Hill earlier this week when he testified that the administration’s goal is not specifically to reduce gas prices.

“The overall goal is to decrease our dependency on oil, to build and strengthen our economy,” he said.
