Charges Coming Next Week For Theater Shooter

District Attorney Carol Chambers announced that formal charges will be filed next Monday

Formal charges against James Holmes, the young man accused of killing 12 during a deadly shooting spree in a Colorado theater, will be filed next Monday, according to District Attorney Carol Chambers.

Arapahoe County, Colorado police have released this mugshot of James Holmes.

Speaking at a press conference following Holmes’ preliminary hearing, Chambers said that it would likely be months before the state determines whether or not they will pursue the death penalty and at least a year before Holmes’ trial begins.

During his first court appearance Monday, he was told that he faces First-Degree murder charges and will be held without bail.

Video of the hearing provided by the Court showed Holmes with brightly dyed red hair and a seemingly disconnected facial expression.

Holmes allegedly opened fire on theater patrons midnight showing of the film The Dark Knight Rises on Friday. 12 have died thus far and over 50 were wounded. Police later found that his apartment was rigged with deadly explosives.
