On a conference call with reporters today, a senior adviser to Mitt Romney accused President Obama’s campaign manger of breaking the law.

Spokesman Eric Fehrnstrom said it is “very troubling” that Jim Messina had allegedly erased personal email correspondence with a lobbyist that contained promises of billions of dollars in federal funds while Obama’s health care legislation was moving through Congress.

The act of deleting the emails, Fehnstrom said, “suggests he wanted to hide the conversation. On its face, this appears to be a violation of the law.”
