Jasper County (Mo.) Republican Party Chairman John Putnam, who also serves as State Coordinator for the Tea Party Patriots, talks to former U.S. Rep and host of Istook Live! Ernest Istook (R-Okla.), about the clamor for GOP U.S. Senate nominee Todd Akin to drop out of the race after his controversial remarks regarding rape and abortion.
“The only way for Akin to get the funds and resources he needs, says Putnam, would be “If the pro-life community gets behind him and makes this a national campaign instead of state.”
“If Akin drops out, “35 to 40% of the conservative pro-life community in Missouri is going to feel like the party operatives in Missouri forced this to happen; instead of circling the wagons around him and getting him through this, they bailed on him immediately. I’m not sure that they [the conservative pro-life community] will come to the election under these circumstances.” (:50)
