White House Crasher Crushed In VA Poll

Voters don't appear to take Tareq Salahi seriously.

Washington socialite Tareq Salahi, notorious for “crashing” a State Dinner at the White House, has recently expressed interest in running for Governor of Virginia.

Voters, however, don’t appear to be willing to give him a chance.

According to Public Policy Polling, Salahi, a Republican, has only 4 percent support from his party and a 42 percent unfavorable rating. In comparison, State Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli leads the field with 51 percent and Lt. Gov. Bill Bolling trails at 23 percent.

The polling agency notes that the leading Democratic contenders would beat Salahi in a landslide if he did win the nomination. Former Congressman Tom Perriello leads Salahi by 24 percent, former DNC Chair Terry McAuliffe would lead by 25 percent and Sen. Mark Warner, the current frontrunner, would lead by 39 percent.

The poll was conducted among 680 Virginia voters between April 26th and 29th, including 400 voters who usually vote in the GOP primary.
