Obama’s Speeches Worth A Thousand Lies

Barack Obama is painfully aware of the huge fight ahead of him as he faces Mitt Romney for the White House in November. As such, he and his supporters have turned up the attacks on Romney; on his record, on his personality, and on his religion. However, Obama’s weapon of choice is trying to portray Romney as a reckless spender, while downplaying his own abysmal fiscal record.

Yes, Obama does have the killing of Osama bin Laden on his record. We know, because the president never fails to remind us, even though he leaves out that it was George W. Bush’s policies that led to bin Laden’s capture. However, it is a lone accomplishment surrounded by failure in almost every political and economic aspect in existence. He has failed at home and abroad. In the last two months alone, he has attacked the Supreme Court, told Russian President Dmitri Medvedev that he will have more flexibility on defense after his election (which he pompously implies is assured, by the way,) has “evolved” on gay marriage and has openly admitted that he thinks his job as president is to figure out how everyone gets a fair shot.

But little compares to the president’s economic failures. No matter how the Democrats skew the numbers, or blame Bush, racism or the weather, no one can honestly argue this. Obama claims his spending is the lowest in 60 years, but he has spent more money than all 43 of his predecessors combined. Unemployment has been above 8% for 38 months. The country lost its AAA credit rating for the first time since 1917. In 2011, one out of seven Americans was on food stamps, a 70% increase from 2007. When Obama took office, gas was $1.95 a gallon, compared with today’s $3.67. Obamacare is now twice as expensive as originally predicted. Prior to Obama, the country has never had a trillion dollar deficit. And how’s Solyndra doing?

The writing is on the wall. But Obama thinks he can distract the country by somehow keeping a straight face while claiming that Romney is a more reckless spender than he is. But he fails to point out that while Romney was the governor of Massachusetts, arguably the bluest state in the country, he managed to balance the budget with no tax increases, even with an 85% Democratic legislature. Every budget he submitted included tax cuts. While he did pass a government-run healthcare plan in his state, Romney’s bill was on a much smaller scale and doesn’t put needless burdens on employers, while promoting flexibility, individual responsibility and choice.

Obama expects the country not to research and to follow him like sheep. Worked out for him in 2008, but our country’s citizens are much smarter than he thinks. He duped us once but the country has woken up. Facts don’t lie, Mr. President. Only you do.
