In a fundraising appearance at the 2012 Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, North Carolina, First Lady Michelle Obama implored the Democratic Women’s Caucus to increase campaign participation and contributions.
She told women voters, “If you can afford it, write a check and if you haven’t maxed out, max out.”
Additionally, Mrs. Obama emphasized a need for Democratic activists to mobilize young voters. According to a July Gallup poll young voters are almost twenty percent less likely to vote in this election compared to the previous General Election.
The First Lady said, “this election is going to be even closer than the last one.”
