Report: North Carolina Lawmaker Accidentally Approves Fracking

State Rep. Becky Carney (D) reportedly blamed her mistake on being tired and worn down from a long day at work.

A North Carolina state House lawmaker by the name of Becky Carney (D) says she did not mean to vote in favor of approving pro-fracking legislation .

But that’s exactly what Carney did late Monday night, thereby becoming the clinching vote in support of a bill to overturn Gov. Bev Perdue’s (D) veto of the fracking legislation.

Carney reportedly blamed her mistake on being tired and worn down from a long day at work.

“It is late. Here we are rushing to make these kind of decisions this time of night,” she said.

On Sunday, Perdue had vetoed legislation that would have allowed drillers in her state to use fracking to extract natural gas.

But thanks to Carney, the bill now becomes law.
